In the aftermath of the devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar and Thailand on March 28, 2025, India launched 'Operation Brahma' to provide immediate humanitarian assistance to the affected regions. As part of this initiative, an Indian Air Force C-130J aircraft transported approximately 15 tonnes of relief materials to Yangon, Myanmar.
The consignment included essential items such as tents, blankets, sleeping bags, food packets, hygiene kits, generators, and vital medicines, aimed at alleviating the suffering of those impacted by the disaster.
The Ministry of External Affairs emphasized India's commitment as a "First Responder" in aiding the people of Myanmar during this crisis. Additionally, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar highlighted that the relief efforts encompassed blankets, tarpaulins, hygiene kits, sleeping bags, solar lamps, food packets, and kitchen sets, with accompanying search and rescue and medical teams to bolster on-ground operations. This swift and comprehensive response underscores India's dedication to supporting its neighbors in times of need.
